This Supernatural Story
Soderbergh pushes his film-making abilities through this nifty ghostly tale shot entirely through the eyes of the phantom. The daughter appears sensing the supernatural presence, and the entity appears defensive toward her. But why? This is an entertaining concept that avoids overstaying, featuring a surprise you might not see coming. This Saturday, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema Premiere

This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a continuation. Set in 1978 Denver, a series of disappearances has left the children on edge. When Finney gets captured by “the Grabber” and locked up in a cellar, he anticipates a terrible outcome. But the disconnected phone in the room continues to ring, with ghostly voices offering help, while the intuitive nightmares of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. Saturday 11 October, nighttime, on Film4
This Dramatic Portrait
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about monetising the nation's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, bad makeup and bad faith, though Chastain achieves to show the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, Film4
